AirFly Pro (12-2010) Review: Wireless Audio Freedom for AirPods and More
For those tired of tangled wires and limited audio options, the AirFly Pro (Model Number: 12-2010) offers a compelling solution. This Bluetooth transmitter/receiver promises wireless audio freedom for various devices, and after extensive testing, I’m ready to share my experiences.
The AirFly Pro boasts a range of features designed for convenience and versatility. It effortlessly connects to devices with a 3.5mm audio jack, allowing you to wirelessly stream audio from airplane entertainment systems, gym equipment, TVs, and more. The ability to use it as both a transmitter and receiver significantly expands its usability. The claimed 25+ hour battery life is a definite plus for long journeys or extended use. The compact design and included travel pouch make it highly portable. The inclusion of aptX Low Latency, aptX and SBC codecs promises high-quality audio, even for latency-sensitive applications. Pairing is generally straightforward, though I encountered some minor hiccups on crowded flights (more on that in the Performance section).
In my testing, the AirFly Pro consistently delivered on its promises. The audio quality was excellent across various devices and audio sources. I used it extensively on flights, at the gym, and with my home entertainment system, and the sound remained crisp and clear. The 25+ hour battery life claim held true—I easily got a full day’s use on a single charge. The 10m range also proved to be accurate, offering plenty of freedom of movement while using my AirPods at the gym.
However, I did experience some minor connectivity issues when pairing in environments with a lot of other Bluetooth devices, such as crowded airplanes. Following the instructions to turn off nearby Bluetooth devices resolved these issues most of the time, but it’s a point to keep in mind. The pass-through charging functionality is useful, though charging via USB-C is now the industry standard, so the cable inclusion was expected.
Pros
- Excellent audio quality
- Long battery life (25+ hours)
- Versatile transmitter/receiver functionality
- Convenient and portable design
- Good range (10m/33ft)
Cons
- Minor connectivity issues in crowded Bluetooth environments
- Requires turning off nearby Bluetooth devices when pairing sometimes
The AirFly Pro (12-2010) is a solid and versatile wireless audio solution. Its long battery life, excellent audio quality, and convenient design make it ideal for travellers, gym-goers, and anyone looking to cut the cord. While minor connectivity issues in crowded Bluetooth environments exist, these are easily mitigated by turning off nearby devices, making it highly recommended for many users. I would happily recommend the AirFly Pro to anyone seeking a reliable and convenient way to enjoy wireless audio across a range of devices.
