In practice, the Godox RING72 lived up to its promises. The light output was consistently even and bright, even at lower brightness settings. The independent control over the left and right halves proved invaluable for creating subtle lighting effects and minimizing harsh shadows, particularly beneficial when photographing delicate subjects like flowers and insects. The adapter rings fitted securely, ensuring a stable connection between the light and the camera lens. The spring cable provides a degree of flexibility in mounting and use. Battery life was adequate for a typical day’s shoot. The small size and lightweight nature of this light didn’t hinder usability, making it extremely portable for various location shoots.

I did notice a slight colour cast at maximum brightness, but this was easily corrected during post-processing. The overall build quality is solid but not exceptionally sturdy. Care should be taken to prevent it from being dropped or subjected to excessive stress.
