For weeks, I’ve been putting the Pitaka MagEZ Case 5 (model number 0749355415359) for my iPhone 15 Pro Max through its paces. This case promises a feather-light feel and MagSafe compatibility without compromising protection. But does it deliver on those promises? Let’s dive in.

The aramid fiber material is surprisingly durable and has a unique texture that provides a surprisingly good grip, preventing accidental drops. The raised camera lip provides crucial protection for the camera lenses, which is a must-have feature for me.

MagSafe compatibility is a key selling point. I tested it with various MagSafe accessories, and the connection was consistently strong and reliable. No unexpected disconnections or wobbles during charging or use with MagSafe accessories.

In daily use, the case performs admirably. It’s incredibly unobtrusive, allowing for easy access to all ports and buttons. The thin profile doesn’t interfere with wireless charging, and the overall feel is premium. I subjected the case to several accidental drops (on carpet, thankfully!), and it performed better than I anticipated, protecting my phone from any scratches or damage.

However, the thinness does mean it’s not as shock-absorbent as bulkier cases. While it performed well in minor drops, I wouldn’t recommend it for users who are prone to dropping their phones from significant heights.
