Rock Case Keyboard Case for iPad Air 6th Gen (2024) M2 Review
For weeks, I’ve been using the Rock Case keyboard case for my iPad Air 6th generation (2024) – model A2902, to be precise – and I’m ready to share my honest thoughts. This all-in-one solution promises a lot: a keyboard, stand, carrying case, and even Apple Pencil support. But does it deliver?
The Rock Case boasts a sleek design. The premium leather exterior feels substantial and provides excellent protection. The magnetically detachable keyboard is a standout feature; it snaps on and off with satisfying ease. The three viewing angles are practical, offering flexibility for different tasks. The integrated Apple Pencil holder (supporting 2nd gen charging) is a welcome addition, keeping my pencil secure and readily available. It’s also worth noting the built-in auto sleep/wake function (when the keyboard is detached).
The keyboard itself is comfortable to type on. The keys have a good response and travel, although long typing sessions might reveal some minor fatigue compared to a dedicated keyboard. The magnetic connection is strong, ensuring the keyboard remains securely attached during use. The auto sleep/wake function is a nice touch and works flawlessly when the keyboard is detached. However, I noticed the iPad takes longer to wake when you leave the keyboard attached.
The stand is sturdy and holds the iPad securely at all three angles. The case offers solid protection against drops and scratches.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: Stylish design, good protection, comfortable keyboard, magnetically detachable keyboard, integrated Apple Pencil holder (2nd gen support), convenient auto sleep/wake function (when detached), multiple viewing angles.
- Cons: Slightly less comfortable for extended typing sessions compared to a dedicated keyboard. Auto sleep/wake function is slower with the keyboard attached.
Overall, the Rock Case provides a solid and convenient solution for those seeking an all-in-one iPad Air case with a keyboard. The magnetically detachable keyboard and the included Apple Pencil holder are particularly appealing features. While it’s not perfect for extremely long typing sessions, its strengths far outweigh the minor drawbacks. I would comfortably recommend this to anyone looking for a functional and protective case for their iPad Air.
