The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is a fantastic phone, but it’s an investment worth protecting. Enter the ROCKCASE RP-SAM03, a slim-fitting case promising military-grade drop protection and a handy 360° rotating ring kickstand. Over the past few weeks, I’ve put this case through its paces, subjecting it to daily wear and tear, as well as a few (controlled) drops. This review details my experience, highlighting both the positive and negative aspects.

The RP-SAM03 boasts several key features: a slim profile, despite its protective qualities; a built-in, magnetic ring stand that functions as a kickstand and magnetic car mount; raised edges to protect the screen and camera; and a dual-layer design (hard PC back and flexible TPU inner) for shock absorption. The claimed military-grade protection is a big selling point, promising significant impact resistance. The build quality feels premium, with precise cutouts for all ports and buttons. The black color is understated and sleek.

In terms of protection, the RP-SAM03 has performed admirably. I accidentally dropped my phone a few times (onto carpet, thankfully!), and the case absorbed the impact without any damage to the phone. The raised bezels have also proven effective in preventing screen and camera scratches. The ring holder is surprisingly sturdy, offering a secure grip and a stable viewing angle. The magnetic function works seamlessly with my magnetic car mount, adding a convenient element to my driving experience. While the case adds some bulk, it remains surprisingly slim and doesn’t significantly increase the phone’s size or weight. The material feels very sturdy, while remaining flexible enough to put on and take off without breaking a nail.

However, I did notice minor issues. While the cutouts are precise, accessing the SIM tray requires a little more effort than with some other cases. Additionally, the case’s slightly glossy finish is prone to fingerprints.
